There is a lot of women health tips that have caused a large debate currently over what is a healthy diet for teenage girls, and specifically whether dieting should be promoted by parents for girls who may be a little pudgy. A new book called Maggie Goes on a Diet has become a flashpoint for this controversy with its promotion of dieting as a way for overweight teenage girls to find popularity and happiness at school.

The author has stated that his intention was to promote healthy eating and physical fitness to children in an effort to combat the obesity epidemic affecting many young people today. However, many psychologists have blasted the book for sending a bad message that could encourage eating disorders among young women. These psychologists caution against any diet books aimed at young women as having a potentially negative impact.

Who Can Provide Egg Donation?

© Black Photo Studio

Conceiving a child can be easy for some couples, but for some it can be quite dificult or even impossible to do naturally. There are some special methods that some couples can use to still conceive a child, using the couples' sperm and eggs. Although some couples may require donated sperm or donated eggs, as the reproductive systems of one or both of the couple members may have problems.

For some women who unfortunately have complications with their ovaries and healthy egg production, it may be beneficial to use egg donation techniques in order to become pregnant. In this instance, a healthy egg is extracted from another woman and inserted into the prospective mother. The child bearing woman then carries the healthy egg of the other woman, so that she may conceive and give birth.

It may take some hard thought and consideration for a couple to use egg donation methods. Before applying and undergoing such procedures, it helps for the couple to do some thorough research of the techniques involved as well as the potential risks and advantages. It's also important to conduct background checks of the medical professionals who will conduct the egg extraction and insertion, as well as gaining as much understanding of the potential egg donors.

There are some stringent criteria that female egg donors must pass, and thus, not all women can donate their eggs. Different egg donation centers have slight variations in their criteria as some are more strict than others. However, there are basic requirements for egg donors that all centers adhere. Some of the basic criteria are law based, while others are standard policies that are for increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy.

For instance, in the United States, the egg donor must commonly be a female who is at least 21 years old, and they must not exceed the age of 35 years old. The minimum age requirement ensures that the donor can legally enter into a contract, while the maximum age limit reduces the risk of unhealthy eggs. As women grow older, their eggs and their bodies become more unresponsive to the necessary egg donation techniques. Additionally, older women tend to have a higher chance of producing abnormal eggs, which may result in birth defects in the child. Another preference that many egg donation centers have is that the egg donor should have had experience already donating in the past or the egg donor must have had a successful pregnancy themself. This often demonstrates that their eggs are healthy and fertile.

A new website called www.everywomannc.com has been launched by the March of Dimed North Carolina Preconception Health Campaign and will concentrate completely on women's health before conception and after conception.
A woman's health before she becomes pregnant is termed as preconception health. It is very important for a woman to know that how her health conditions will affect her and her unborn baby, if she becomes pregnant. Better preconception health improves overall health of the woman and babies and decreases the risks of any problem during conception.
The site also features a section for women's health providers and other health professionals that include current recommendations, a list of free materials and a very good list of scientific journals regarding women's health.
