Increased No. Of Abortions Banned At State Level In A Bid To Promote Sexual Health

According to a study, the number of bans for abortions have increased at state level in America over the years, for the sole purpose of promoting sexual health. This is a contrast from the trend fifty years ago when women had a constitutional right to obtain abortions. According to the sexual health study conducted by Guttmacher Institute, more than 1,000 pieces of anti-choice legislations have been introduced in state legislatures, in a bid to promote sexual health, since January 2011. Though not all of these sexual health legislations have passed, the efforts are strengthened by the ones that have.
For example in Florida, the new sexual health law states that women must receive an ultrasound before having an abortion. Similarly in South Dakota, women wanting an abortion must first visit a crisis pregnancy centre.
