While the women comfortably ask for the abortion pills, the haphazard consumption of these pills without taking the routine contraceptive has become a growing concern for the doctors. After all, the abortion pills help avoid pregnancy at the cost of hampering the menstrual cycle and blood flow.
When asked, the chemists reported that they sell approximately 60-65 of these abortion pills daily. This is much more than the 40-45 abortion pills that they sold three years back.
A teacher at the department of Sociology in Punjab University attributes this change in attitude towards sex and free purchase of abortion pills primarily to media exposure.
